Android M / Samsung issues

Mixing Station

As some users reported Mixing Station does currently have some issues with Android M (sync does not complete – search works).

I tested the app with the official Android emulator and it runs just fine. As all reports were from users who use Samsung devices I assume it’s a Samsung / Android M related problem.
I’m still trying to get an Android M hardware device to check if the issue also applies to other devices.

Currently the issues was found on the following devices:

  • Galaxy S6
  • Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Note 5

Please let me know if you’re using Android M (with or without issues) so I can track the error down.

my samsung s6 edge plus using mix station pro gets firmware error when trying to connect to my X32. worked great till my phone updated a few days ago. no other changes to phone or mixer other than the samsung android updates. Starts to connect, sees the mixer, ip address correct (i checked) stops of various inputs, not always the same input but always the same error.

Hi, Can you try if the latest beta changes anything?
Here is a description on how to join:
      https://bugs.dev-core.org/w/ms/beta/

The problem is that I can’t reproduce the problem. On my galaxy S6 with Android 6 the app is just running fine. I also tried all sorts of configurations and network setups. This is why I can’t just fix it.
      Sorry!

Thanks. I tried the free beta so as not to confuse my paid version status. Get the same errors with the free and pro version prior to trying the beta. The old error happens after saying, „getting data from the console“ makes it to about 36% then reads, „No response for /node/main/st/mix
This error may be caused by an incompatible firmware.
Now after installing the beta on the free version it only makes it to 9% and the error reads, „No reply for /node/ch/mix/16
This might be caused by a bad connection. The connection is fine as I can access and control the mixer with the Windows app provided by Behringer. Let me know if u have any other ideas.

          Thanks for testing!
Just for curiosity: What happens when you connect using limited access (Bus 1 only for example)?

I tried both my pro and free versions. same error on each.

Okay. Does the app work when disabling the sync completely? (Open the app->Gear icon in the top menu->App->Skip sync)
Of course the app will not be in sync with the mixer but it should show all the meters and update when you change something on the mixer/the app.

          • Excalibr8

Yes that does work. Once u move a slider, or toggle a mute button off and on, that item syncs and works. Does that get u any closer? I hope so. I use this app all the time and am missing it already.

Just an update. The ap still doesnt work if u let it sync. I got ur update and then last nite, android updated again. I still have to leave sync off and it gives my notifications all the time that there was no response for x seconds, ingore or reconnect. I hope you can figure this out. Its quite annoying.

It’s a Samsung issue. I sadly can’t do anything about it. Sorry!
But they already fixed it in some countries so hopefully yours will follow soon.

I am experiencing the same problem ( bad connection ). Mixing station starts to load from the X32 and the error can appear at almost any time. From around 20 percent to 70 percent.

            Phone: Nexus 5
            Android 6.0.1
            Build MOB30Y

Nexus device are, at least to my knowledge, not affected by the issue.
Can you verify that the wifi signal is good (channel not used by other networks)?

          • jcjones

Will do so in the morning. It’s after midnight in Eastern USA. Thanks for the quick reply.

            Cellphone end or X32 end?

Cellphone. You can use the app „Wifi Analyzer“ to take a look at the wifi networks in your area and which channel they are using.
It’s recommended that there are at least two channels between each wifi network so the performance does not drastically decrease.

            Thanks for your comments.

Found the problem. X32 mixer network cable went through an overworked router before hitting the main router. Connect is now direct from X32 to the main router. Have been able to connect 4 times from home to the X32 using the Nexus 5 and Mixing Station Pro.

Thanks again for such excellent software and your quick response.

The mixing station pro works with no problems when used on the same network as the X32. It has worked once when the Nexus was communicating with the X32 through a Verizon hot spot that had only the Nexus as a user.

Using the hot spot at my home with the Nexus produces the „bad connection“. I really want to use the phone and the mixing station to be able to start a flash drive recording of an event at our church rather than drive in for the event.

          • davidgiga1993

Ah I see. What’s the connection speed to the location?
Are you using a VPN connection to the hot spot or just connecting using the public IP?

          • jcjones

            No VPN being used.

On the mobile hot spot, Using it’s secured ip address.
X32 is on a time warner business cable connection. Speed unknown until I check tomorrow.

My previous cell phone ( Motorola Droid Razr ) had no problem using Mixing station pro both locally and from my home.

Note — I do have the Wifi Analyzer app The two strongest signals in my computer room are my Uverse gateway ( ch 7 -35dbm ) and my Verizon hot spot ( ch 1- 57dbm ). All other signals are at least 30 db below those.

            Now back to sleep ….

          • jcjones

None are on the same or even close channels to either wifi unit

          • jcjones

I did 945 pings to the X32 location. Here are the results:

945 packets transmitted, 945 received, 0% packet loss, time 945372ms
            rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 60.647/112.791/639.743/102.594 ms

packets were 1500 bytes in size.

Does that give you enough speed information?
